There should be ample parking. Tourists get lost having to walk a long distance, and there is almost NO handicap parking.

When I first heard about this I thought it such a bad idea that it may be a joke. This is a regressive tax of the worst kind with a disproportionate effect on those who can least afford it.

As for having a quicker turnover in parking spots? People will just add more time remotely with an app on their phone.
The whole proposition is wrong. The time is too late and the cost is too high. Get a grip, Mr. Mayor!

As a new Orleans musician, I feel the impact of increased parking fees. We work hard for our money (which is still very low pay). The city should be working to help people who make the economy tick rather than making things harder on us.

This would be horrible for both locals and tourists. No good! We must find a better way to manage our city's budget. This is not the answer. Local who work in these areas statistically make low wages so this would only further put stress on them and our city!

Has anyone does a cost analysis to determine if the increased payroll is going to offset the amount of revenue this will produce? Or, the fact that people will other means to park after shops and stores close at 6pm? Or, what this will do to uptown and downtown restaurants that are frequented by people after 6 pm? This needs to go before the city council to actually perform and impact study and not the usual knew jerk reaction of the current administration.

Please let my daughter be safe and park close to where she works. Which is at one of the metered parking areas. She pays enough already. LEAVE THE WORKING CLASS KEEP SOME OF THEIR MONEY!!!!!!!!

Please don't do this. You've already taken away smoking and tips are down (for me, depending on the day) 20-50%. I literally cannot afford this nor can my friends and colleagues.

The extention of hours will increase working hours of public employees to monitor, in turn costing the city personnel costs. The 6:00 hour is the right time for the business parkers to leave and therefore clear spaces for residents in the CBD and other areas. We are not tourists, we are residents and patrons of restaurants. Leave well enough alone!

Extending meter hours and doubling the cost per hour directly penalizes the hospitality workers that keep the businesses in the french quarter running. A week after the proposed 2016 budget, a news story emerged that the s&w board wasted $400,000 this year by letting their employees take home company cars. Most outside of the parish. But the people who dare to drive their own cars to work (for a base pay of $2-$5/hr) need to sure-up Mayor Landrieu's deficit.

This is going to negatively affect people that are parking on the street to get to work, gigs, etc. It's already hard enough to park on the street, and this could push people to park in unsafe areas (without meters).
