We very much need a new high school..I taught at "John Lewis" the first year it was open and it had problems at that time.

Staunton's youth deserve the best education we can provide, & that does include the best facility. It will help them be more prepared for whatever path they take after graduation, be it employment or continuing their education. A new 21st-century high school will help draw more businesses here, as it will be a clear sign how important education is to our community; those businesses will bring employees with families who will need homes & groceries & clothing & more ... and those businesses will bring jobs for those who have the education to be productive employees. It will benefit all of us in the long term, & we have a responsibility to give our best for Staunton's future.

For how many awards the city of Staunton receives (both across Virginia and nationally), the condition of the high school is dismal. Anyone looking to move to the Shenandoah valley need only tour the current high school and then compare to those around us in Rockingham County and Harrisonburg to see the building is sorely lacking.
