A new high school is very much needed for Staunton and should be made a priority. Although remodeling may save money in the short term, it would only be a Band-Aid solution. Education has changed dramatically in the last decades and our students in Staunton deserve a facility that can offer them the same opportunities as other areas. While a new high school is not a fix-it-all for all educational concerns, it is an important step forward and one that will benefit all Staunton city students.
The issue of a new high school should be a concern for all of our community. This is not just a matter for parents, but this is a broader question that affects everyone in Staunton. As a community, we will make little progress if we talk about the need for new opportunities and civic improvement but are unwilling to invest in our future. A new high school is a key piece to ensuring a prosperous future for Staunton.

I started this because I felt alone in wanting better for our students but seeing this momentum proves that I was completely wrong. This support belongs to all of you who realized that our future is worth building.

Staunton's youth deserve the best education we can provide, & that does include the best facility. It will help them be more prepared for whatever path they take after graduation, be it employment or continuing their education. A new 21st-century high school will help draw more businesses here, as it will be a clear sign how important education is to our community; those businesses will bring employees with families who will need homes & groceries & clothing & more ... and those businesses will bring jobs for those who have the education to be productive employees. It will benefit all of us in the long term, & we have a responsibility to give our best for Staunton's future.
We very much need a new high school..I taught at "John Lewis" the first year it was open and it had problems at that time.
As a taxpayer and homeowner, I believe the cost of a new High School is a worthwhile investment in our community.
For how many awards the city of Staunton receives (both across Virginia and nationally), the condition of the high school is dismal. Anyone looking to move to the Shenandoah valley need only tour the current high school and then compare to those around us in Rockingham County and Harrisonburg to see the building is sorely lacking.
Our children and their education should be a priority for the entire community. Please provide our future with the proper tools and facilities needed for success

I am willing to pay higher taxes to avoid a stopgap or bandaid measure. Let's do this right!
