Until our numbers go down, Plan C is the only safe option.

I do not feel safe to return to the classroom to teach face to face at this time. My classroom wasn't cleaned on a daily basis before covid and I don't understand how it is going to go through a deep cleaning now. I also have a young child that will not work independently at home without supervision during his two weeks online.

It’s ludicrous and negligent to ask this of teachers

There's not enough time to prepare for Plan B. There are too many large and small details to consider.

Too many unknowns and uncertainty to start in person.

Plan C is safe for everyone at this time!

Plan C is the only plan that could safely be implemented in NHCS at this time due to current community positivity rates. Other countries that could open and stay open were at 1/1,00,000. Contain, test, trace, continue containment measures, then Plan B has a chance of working safely for our community. Perhaps, in addition to Plan C implementation we should be thinking of small cohorts that we know need more for their safety (not due to Covid 19) and address on a case by case basis with social work, therapists, medical, and other community supports. Source out for expertise in these areas and let teachers focus on optimal remote teaching and learning. This is a short term solution for a complex problem. We are deep in the midst of a global pandemic, but hope is on the horizon with therapeutics and a vaccine. This too shall pass and safety of all involved must be priority.

Please use the data to make the decision to keep children and staff safe. The first 9 weeks remote while simultaneously creating the best plan to return to classrooms when it is safe.

Please reconsider and begin the school year under Plan C. Follow the science and make the decision to keep student, teachers, administrators, staff, and all their families safe.

I don’t know how I can teach K face to face and online at the same time. I also have a critically ill husband. Until we can be certain we can be safe at school I cannot in good conscience go back and it breaks my heart that I may have to choose between my career or my life.

We dont know about the virus, particularly in our children to risk their Health and the people they live with!

As a special education teacher I am terrified about returning to school this fall, not just for myself, but for my family & students’ families. We know, all to well, that elementary schools are sickness spreading super-centers. Classrooms are small and class sizes are large. With conditions like that there is nothing that can be done to protect my family with immunocompromised systems from the germs that I am likely to pick up. We can’t expect students to wear masks all day in school when many parents won’t even wear one to Walmart. Even if every student did wear a mask, that wouldn’t solve the issues of supply contamination and the inability to truly social distance in a small classroom having to hold too many students. The spot you are in is tough, Online learning isn’t ideal - not for parents and not for teachers (I for one would love nothing more that to be able to be back in the classroom full time) - but, in the moment we are in right now, it’s the right call for the safety of everyone right now with the cards we now hold this is the only hand we can truly and safely play.

Help! We are year round!

I want to return but I’m currently too worried about the spread of COVID. I also can’t take the county making decisions as we go. The spring was so stressful because policies would change so often. Everyone needs more time to get things together.

Since NC number of contagious is raising very fast, I think it is too risky to put our kids, teachers and staff physically together. I can't imagine an outbreak in a school, that could lead to many families in pain, many teachers asking the school system for workers compensation, and many other subsequent problems. As society, we must protect our kids.
