Until there is a down

There are so many questions and challenges surrounding Plan B. With just a few short weeks before school is to start and the COVID numbers at an all time high, it is just too great of a risk to throw our children and our educators into the pit of unknown. There is alot of speculation about this virus and we can't depend on what we "think" we know about it. Of course, we all want to return to our normal routines and lives and while we understand how important education is for our children-we have to keep them safe and healthy first and foremost. My wife is special education teacher and works with younger children who will have an extremely difficult time understanding let alone adapting to all of the restrictions to be implemented under Plan B. I am worried about how safe she will be as she tries to provide quality instruction for young students. We also have a newborn at home which poses a huge risk. Additionally, we are an African-American family with a few pre-existing health conditions that put our family and families like us at an even greater risk. Sure, there are considerable challenges with virtual teaching, but we risk much less than we do if we send folks back into our school buildings and businesses too soon. Lets use our resources to help our educators enhance their ability to lead the lead virtual classrooms instead of using them to on a forced, terribly risky and unwise trial of Plan B. Please look at the evidence some of the larger states that were amongst the first to re-open are providing. With all of the negative impact, it's just not wise. I know funding is involved and so many economical factors are in play which impact us all greatly as well, but the bottom line is we have to keep SAFETY as our first priority and leave the rest in God's hands. There are many folks who are pushing for schools to reopen and its has been said that some odd 60% of educators feel comfortable returning as well. My thoughts are why not experiment with those folks firs

With cases across the country, state, and NHC rapidly increasing each day, it seems that now is not the time to reopen schools; putting our children, their teachers, school staff, and families at risk.

Protect the children and the elderly.

One student/teacher life lost is to many!

Plan C is safest for all, and logistically a bit simpler. Plan B is the most complex, leaves the most unanswered questions, and will have to be scrapped when we have more and more staff getting COVID

The safest way to open NHCS schools is to begin the year remotely. Plan C is the best way to open schools.

I am very worried about my Grandchildren and the rising Covid. This is not the time to bring our children together. I am also worried about my daughter, who is a teacher.

I am a substitute teacher and am reluctant to return to the classroom until I know it is safe.

I work in healthcare and this virus is not going away anytime soon. At least for the first semester, due online classes, then if we see a decrease in the pandemic, start back in the classroom the first of next year.

This is for high school specifically. I would rather be safe and focus on actually doing this well rather than doing a mix of both badly. It would be different if NC numbers were better but they are not.

1 month does not feel like enough time to safely prepare for students to be in the building.

I do not feel we have enough time to prepare properly to go back safely to face to face instruction safely.

So stressful, please reconsider plan c for now!! I have no childcare and immunosuppressed parents I help all the time!!!

Please consider the safety of the staff and their families.

Please consider beginning the school year in a totally remote format for the safety of students, staff, and families.

As a teacher with a young family, Plan C would allow to do my best to teach without putting in danger. Plan C would also allow our schools to re-evaluate using data and have more time to transition to in person learning as conditions improve.

I will not allow my students or coworkers to be “collateral damage” in your experiment to see if we can safely open schools during a pandemic.
