With all the equity work we have been doing over the past year or so Plan B has a huge equity dilemma which is, what are we doing for families that do not have childcare for their students during the two weeks their students cannot attend school? Public school is the largest childcare system in America and allows so many Americans the opportunity to work during their child's early years. There is a huge assumption that families can just figure out what to do with their children during this time. Please consider the many single-family homes our students come from, the families that both parents do not have the option to take off from work for those two weeks, the families that do not have friends or families to take care of their children during that time, the families that cannot afford to pay for childcare for those two weeks. This is not equitable. Even the employee benefit is not thought out. It states that there will only be supervision for students and that they are required to stay on task on their own. What about young elementary age students? Plan B has not taken into account these concerns and I believe unless a viable option has been created to address the needs of parents who do not have the ability to be home with their child or send their child to childcare that is age-appropriate then Plan B is not an accessible option. Let's be sure that we are implementing a plan that will be equitable for all students.

If Safety is NHCS #1 concern, the county needs to have patience and wait until the number of cases has flattened/decreased to an acceptable level. Going back to school while the number of cases is drastically escalating locally and around the state does not make sense.

As a former NHCS teacher I had to constantly buy supplies for my classroom - the level of funding it would take for all classrooms to be sanitized at the level needed, or for ADDITIONAL teachers to be hired to make class sizes small enough for social distancing is not even close to being discussed. This is a mess and our students and teachers are not EXPENDABLE. Insane that statement even needs to be written out as it has clearly not been internalized by our school board.

It is not safe to return to school for students or teachers. Children are dying from COVID, fact not fiction, let's not put everyone at risk.

Plan B will create inconsistency and uncertainty for students and families. It seems to me that it would be a very stressful situation for all parties.

My 7 year old is not able to wear a mask for extended periods of time, I am a high risk and over age 50. With the continued increase in confirmed cases, the first grading period needs to be online only.

I am auto immune and have a first grader. The plan B schedule will not work for my family!

There is no way that it is safe to return to school face to face. It’s not safe for faculty, students, or families. Please reconsider a face to face setting that will undoubtedly put tens of thousands of people in our area at risk. Plan C is a much safer option.

I love my mom and my family. I want to be able to visit them during the school year without fearing that I will bring them harm. I love my students. I want to be able to serve them and their families without fearing that I will cause them harm. I love my job. I want to be able to teach without fear. Please wait until this new curve flattens to bring us back together in school.

I don't feel safe teaching students face to face. There will be cases if we attend classes, and there will be severe illnesses/deaths. Going remote will give us time to plan for future in-person classes.

In my opinion, the chaos of plan B is overwhelming to parents. It doesn’t take but one student or staff member to infect a group. My choice was anything but plan B.
