We invite all Floridians to nominate a favorite replacement for the Northern Mocking Bird, and we'll ask students in Florida's K-12 schools to make history by voting to pick our new state bird.
We'll need all of you to support this effort to motivate our legislature to enact legislation making this selection effort official.

I have been hearing from so many of you who agree that our state bird should reflect the unique beauty of Florida's own wildlife. I am currently reaching out to local school districts to coordinate how our students can lead the vote on this choice.

Seeing this kind of energy for a new state bird brings back memories of my own childhood spent birdwatching in these wetlands. It is humbling to see so many people connect with the idea of celebrating our native wildlife in such a meaningful way.

YES!! about time. mockinbirds are everywhere and they are so mean to my cat lol.
The mockingbird is just annoying at 4am anyway. Lets get something nicer like a roseate spoonbill.

Osprey all the way. they are true florida birds and look awesome.
