Keep the school start times as they are. I have heard some high school students talk about how late they stay up (which I believe is a topic that started this entire thing). Who has procrastinated, who isn't on their phone while doing home work, who isn't group chatting while doing home work. How are these kids going to learn to get up and go to work? We have high test scores and high graduation rates. Most go onto college. Do your job - be a parent! No further unnecessary spending!!!

Parents need to understand that the PRESENT times work if you adapt home life to wake up time. It was never an issue for my 3 kids. Go to bed earlier for more sleep. The traffic would be an absolute nightmare for what is being proposed with people getting to work/busses and students and parents driving.

Absolutely against this! When are we going to stop creating issues just so we can throw time, money and resources at them to create an unnecessary solution! Wake Up Your Kids! Teach them life starts at the buzzer and to figure it out! This is all nonsense with a big price tag we all have to pay for. CCSS was crammed down our throats, Saxe Middle School expansion was crammed down our throats and now this. STOP the madness!

FCIAC is not on board. Teachers are threatening to leave if the later start time is put into place.

Please keep the times the way they are! Spending 1M a year as a FIRST step is irresponsible. Let's try some other initiatives first and see if they benefit all kids, before taking on this sort of reoccurring cost for our community.

This is really a horrible idea. It will make it so that working parents can never see their young children, when that contact is most necessary. That can't possibly be in the best interest of the kids.

This plan is the wrong plan and only happening because of a lack of vision re school buses. There is no research to support such an early time start for any child.

I'm strongly against any school start at 7:45 am.

No one wants the early start for their children. With 3 tiers someone has to start early, everyone understands that. I think the least amount of grades impacted should take the early time slot and that would be the 5/6 grades. Why make 5 grades go early when you could have only 2 grades going early impacting less students. This makes the most sense to me.

The impact of changing the school start time will require a complete restructure of the Religious Education program we provide to grades 1 through 8. If parents want their children to get more sleep schools should shorten the amount of homework and parents should manage the amount of after school activities they sign their kids up for so they can get an adequate amount of sleep.

I think the spirit of the studies being used as exhibit a for making these class start changes should apply to all students not just half of them, specifically high schoolers, at the expense of all the rest. Flawed use to science to justify a very large spend..I would not be for this proposal and prefer more options that are inclusive of out the town kids..additionally I this the public disclosures were a bit flawed..that too should be a take away.

This is our first year in town and we love it. However, we might not have considered NC knowing that this possible start time option was on the table. I don't necessarily oppose any child sleeping later, but taking this precious time away from our youngest learners (especially ones with rigorous sports commitments) seems totally counter productive to THEIR development.
