Although the idea may be helpful to a small group of people, the tuition rebate program of the past encouraged all graduates to remain in the province and helped relieve their debt load. Our province should bring back the rebate program and actively pursue companies to invest in NB. If students a can secure jobs in the province, they will spend their money here so it is a win/win situation for all. This new program will not keep graduates here.

We have sacrificed a lot to help our children get their education. Losing the tax credit is a slap in the face to the people whose taxes will fund the new program

Nb government gets credit for funding low income tuition but is on the backs of working people already carrying a huge tax burden. Working people cannot win in this province...think I will move!

Very poor decision once again. A college education no longer guarantees you a job plus we are going to educate these young people gratis so that they can leave our province and move elsewhere. Tuition rebates on the other hand were a wonderful incentive to remain. So many flaws with this announcement and once again Gallant is being very poor advice.

How does an almost bankrupt province pay for all this? Brian Gallant's government will put as further in the hole. How does this keep our children in this province or even in this country? Our children are looking for good paying jobs in other countries as I am sure others are as well.

Absolutely against this. No sense to take away this tax credit to fund another policy. What makes you think we can afford tuition anymore than the next person. You need to be fair and equal with all New Brunswickers.

The tuition tax credit was one of the reasons I moved from NS to NB for work. With it being gone, so is the incentive to stay in NB. We need a program that keeps new grads in NB, not just educates them.

It took my daughter 4 years to get into the nursing program do she took student loan to pay for an arts degree until she was accepted. Now she will have carried forward 6 years of tuition fees to be claimed on her income tax when she is out her first couple of years working.
To say now that she won't be able to claim that tuition on her income tax is ludicrous !!!!

Not only does this affect people who are earining 60k+ already, but it'll eventually affect those of us who are already in post secondary trying to make a future for ourselves. Not a well thought out plan.

Nothing free should be given to anyone and any help with post secondary education should be distributed evenly, not just given to one group of people. All of us work hard to help our kids get an education and we shouldn't have to work for both our own kids and then have tax dollars taken away and handed over to others. This new program is a terrible idea and should be revoked.

Tuition rebate needs to stay. I am sure the government will find a way to make sure very few low income families get this free tuition but will have eliminated the tuition rebate.

This should be a bursary program. No one should be "given" tuition without proving that they are going to work and maintain a good GPA regardless oftheir socio-economic status.

Yet again we lose because we decided to get good jobs work hard no tax break and we have to pay makes me wanna quit my job cause what incentives for $60 k above families get plus kids making honours work for their grades and still penalized if parents have good Jobs

This current government is failing in all aspects! They stand up and act like the hero giving away free tuition... But not to all and those left out are the ones left with huge debt... And of course the big hero does not state what he is taking away to support his half assed plan! Middle class pay again, low income get handed yet another freebie... And frankly I'm tired of it!

My son started university with hopes of using this rebate. With this gone he has nothing, since he is not eligible for free tuition. Perhaps the government should look at ways to help all students not just a select group. Lower tuition and offer more bursaries based on income, but still keep Tuition Rebate program.
