The council finally buckled and committed to the total reconstruction of our skatepark. They ignored us for too long but our persistence forced them to acknowledge that the old death trap had to go. Don't think for a second we aren't watching to ensure they actually break ground on a …

The current Amersham skatepark is a popular destination for Skaters, BMX'ers, Scooter riders and Rollerbladers in and around the Amersham area. The park is in a very convenient location (near the train station and bus stop) and is a fun place for friends to meet. However, there are several problems with the design and build of the park.
Some ramps and rails are unusable due to strange design flaws. This includes the hip next to the funbox in the centre of the park, which is unusable because of its small size with steep sides, and the gap between the metal sheet and the ground making the ramp dangerous. The rails going down the fun box are also strangely designed and are rarely attempted due to the lack of runup (making them dangerous) and the odd shapes. The quarter pipe near the funbox also has very small coping making tricks difficult especially for skateboarders. The square rail near the half pipe is too high to be useable for skateboards, scooters and inline skates. The half pipe has gaps between the wood and metal sheet on the surface, which can lead to wheels being caught and possible injury. The ramps have also degrade making the wood worn and rivets stick out which could cause injury. Finally the ground is very rough, uneven and bumpy making it difficult to maintain speed required to do any tricks and is also very painful if fallen on. There is a lack of useable and fun obstacles at the park, which leads to users being driven away from using the park and skating on private property illegally. A new skatepark would encourage people to take up positive and creative outdoor activities. Please sign the petition of you agree the with a new skatepark.

The local council cannot ignore us any longer now that this movement has gained real momentum. They have let this park rot into a dangerous heap for far too long and it is time they face the consequences of their neglect.

Good idea I think we need a new skatepark with better ramps and a shelter over the top

Amersham is pretty local for me and has a few good ramps but it does need to be fixed due to danger and odd ramps that make tricks feel bad and uncomfortable.

The park could do with a redo surely due to poor metal ramps which should be replaced with smooth concrete for a safer and a more enjoyable experience

Definitely should have a new park, the ramps are dodgey and the ground is so rough
