Neopets.com is an amazing site where I, along with many others, have dedicated countless hours toward the various site features. I have many fond memories of this site, as I am sure many others do too. However, I have seen many users -- myself included -- get warned, reported, permasilenced, or even frozen, by simply talking about our significant others who happen to be the same sex as we are. Neopets justifies it as preventing potential "dating" on the site, but I have seen many users discussing their significant others of the opposite sex without The Neopets Team (TNT) feeling the need to step in. They have said that they are working on re-vamping the rules, but it isn't coming fast enough. In the meantime, innocent people are being told that they should not be who they are; that their favorite site, their escape from the rest of this harsh and unaccepting world, does not accept them either. We all love this site, but this needs to change. I am tired of feeling repressed on a site that I love so much. There are so many LGBTQ Neopians that are being held back from talking about things that straight users have the privilege to talk about. This isn't just to send a message to TNT, but hopefully to create a landslide of acceptance among Nickelodeon's other sites, to show all of their LGBTQ users around the world that it is OK to be who you are. Whether you are a Neopets user or not, whether you are a member of the LGBTQ community or not, if you believe in this cause, please sign this petition. Even better, sign this petition then write the Neopets Team an e-mail or a letter. They have to know that this must end.
