I so well remember August 19, 1969. I was only eighteen but I remember it as if it were yesterday. I can only imgine the extra devastation which might have transpired had there been pipelines in place. This area is a fragile gem and needs to be treated accordingly.

Please consider strengthening protections in the flood plane areas of Nelson County. If we intend to see Nelson County prosper, it cannot be at the expense of environmental quality, touristism and especially the safety of the residents who choose to live and pay taxes here.

Given Nelson County's terrain and past flooding, the increased likelihood of extreme weather events in this age of global warming, and the proposal of the construction of the Atlantic Coast Pipeline through Nelson County's vulnerable floodplain areas, I believe that a revision of the county's floodplain ordinance is of utmost importance. I urge the Board of Supervisors to adopt these proposed amendments to Nelson County's Floodplain Ordinance.

It is vital that the Board of Supervisors approve this ordinance that the planning commission studied so thoroughly. I was at the Planning Commissions's public hearing and was very impressed with the amount of study and thought that was put into developing this ordinance. I urge you to protect the citizens of Nelson Co by adopting this ordinance.

Yes, please support the proposed amendments to our Ordinance and I would find the public flood plain workshop very helpful in this time of increasing incidents of weather change. It makes good business sense also.
