Nelson County BoS: Update our floodplain ordinance with Higher Standards!

Please perform this update. Approx. 800 yards of my property line is the center of Mill Creek. Our house and barns are within 200 yards of Mill creek where the pipeline is to cross under one of the alternative routes. A washout would be doomsday for us.

I'm surprised to read that our flood plain ordinance hasn't been updated since 1977. Given the effects of Hurricane Camille, we should know better. Please take the time to update this important ordinance.

I urge our Board of Supervisors to take keen notice of this request and make it an utmost priority. Our quiet county is growing, evolving, and now a target. Let's not permit Dominion - or any other corporation acting against the good of our community - to take advantage of us due to antiquated data or assessments. Let us stay Nelson strong - beautiful, healthy, and united.

I would worry about installing a gas pipeline in a floodplain like this. I urge you to update the floodplain standards as soon as possible.

Please protect our environment for us and our future generations. Don't sell out to big business or soon we will not have a democracy for the people and by the people.

These measures as requested make good sense especially in the face of the proposed Atlantic Coast Pipeline project.

As a long-time Nelson County landowner who well remembers Hurricane Camille, I urge you to update the county's floodplain ordinance.

This is a crucial consideration for the county. We remember Camille all too well.

This is a sane and reasonable request for an action that has become urgent due to the pressure that has befallen Nelson County due to Dominion's abusive approach to pushing the ACP across our homeland, without regard to impact on its citizens.

I believe the Nelson County floodplain ordinance should have a higher and more appropriate standards.

As a civic leader, the health and safety of citizens should be of top priority. It is of utmost importance that the the floodplain ordinance be updated to protect Nelson County

This is a no-brainer for the protection of our county. Discounted flood insurance premiums are a welcomed bonus.

This is a serious issue. Our little creek rises 4 ft and floods across our bridge and road a couple times a year. It needs to be updated.

It is in the charter for the BOS to protect the health and safety of the residents of Nelson County. Please do what is in the charter that you vowed to honor and update the floodplain management in our county. It is your professional and civic duty to do so immediately. It is important to update the ordinance to prohibit critical facilities and hazardous materials in the floodplains! HEALTH & SAFETY FIRST FOR THE CITIZENS OF NELSON!

We live in a flood-prone and landslide-prone area. We should make every effort to protect against catastrophic events by keeping hazardous facilities out of flood plains.

It is important to update our ordinance to prohibit critical facilities and hazardous materials in the floodplains.

Our homes and our lands are second only to our families as important in our lives. Please do what is necessary to take the best care possible of our lives.

The proposed pipeline is routed through floodplains in the Dutch Creek area. We strongly urge you to take action to provide greater protections for the County.

It is vital that the floodplain of the Rockfish River be updated. It is a perilous area for major flooding.
