Nelson County BoS: Update our floodplain ordinance with Higher Standards!

Please update the ordinance to confer these extra protections for Nelson County!

The pipeline plans to go through my family's 200 year old farmland and through the Rockfish waterways on and by it. This invasion of sacred graves left by the devastating Camille hurricane could cause emotional as well as environmental problems. Nelson County's Board of Supervisors should investigate this updated flood program proposal to determine if it truly meets our county's needs NOT just go with hysteria or corporate greed as the pipeline is planning to do which is absolutely against the good of our county's environmental safety. Corporate greed vs environmental federal, state and local stewardship usually ends with the wildlife, minerals, and environment suffering not prospering, thriving and enduring for future generations to enjoy.

Hurricane Camille was one of three catastrophic Category 5 hurricanes to make landfall in the United States during the 20th century. And it happened right here in Nelson County. Don't let history repeat itself. Please take this action now, to help protect the citizenry and land that we in Nelson County are so blessed to have.

Please protect our flood prone county!

With ever increasing weather events our flood plain areas are likely to be hit hard. Please update our plans to meet curent needs.

When the current ordinance was penned, local officials felt they would always have a say in land use and the ordinance was sufficient for good planners. We now know that local government can now be easily swept aside and permits issued where they ought not to be. Please consider adding further protections.

As a homeowner in Horizons Village I am requesting that you update the Nelson county ordinances on our floodplains.

For the sake of those who suffered thru the night & aftermath of Hurricane Camille...Protecting our Floodplains should be paramount! Let the lives lost benefit future generations. In their memory should we be compelled into action! We are the future...

Please protect and preserve Nelson county's beautiful waterways for now and for the future.

Please take action to preserve Nelson County watersheds and water supply by adopting a strong and meaningful floodplain ordinance.

Please increase the safety for our county with an updated flood plain ordinance.

FEMA, NFIP, VaCCR and FoN all agree: Nelson County deserves higher floodplain protection!

Please protect our beautiful, fragile environment that is our home.

The pipeline is slated to go through floodplains in Nellysford and endanger everyone who lives, works, and passes through there!

Please help protect our beautiful county. Camille was a natural disaster, Atlantic Coast Pipeline will be man made. Property Rights,Environment and Safety and the list goes on and on.Stop this monster before it's to late,please for all of us and our future generations.
