In the ten years since I have mved here, it has always been my opinion that we need to move Highland Park in the direction of single dwelling homes ... preferably lived in by the people by whom they are owned. I believe that sense of ownership will foster pride and encourage us allmake improvements in our individual properties and the nieborhood.

1609 Bennett Avenue. There has to be a better location for a Mental Health Residential Program than in the middle of a residential neighborhood.

1215 S Hickory St votes no. I don't want to have to worry if the group home folks have taken their meds and are "ok" today.

Rezoning of this property will severly affect the neighbors living near these homes. I have lived in Highland Park almost 30 years and at one point had 5 group homes just on Chamberlain Ave and one on Bailey which is still there. I could tell many horrible stories associated with living next door to these homes. As slow as the process may seem we are trying to pull our neighborhood out of the gutter not keep it there.

As a healthcare professional, an area as congested as Highland Park is not the best environment for individuals with mental health issues. I love Highland Park and it's location is premium; however, a quieter setting would be more appropriate. I commend Helen Ross McNabb Center's work; but a cheaper, suburban environment would best suit their population.
