Neighbors Against Amberly Village

Cary's review process is biased heavily in favor of the shopping center developer, who is from Florida, and against the homeowners, who live, vote, spend their money, and pay taxes in Cary. Example 1: At the initial neighborhood meeting at Cary Town Hall on September 9, the town let the developer's paid consultant keep the meeting's official minutes, instead of having a neutral town staffer do it. The result, predictably, is that the minutes are biased for the developer and against the opponents. Example 2: At the public hearing at Cary Town Hall November 19, the Town Council let the developer's paid consultant talk for 20 minutes about how great this third shopping center at one busy intersection would be. But when the attorney for the concerned neighbors spoke against the project, the Mayor cut him off after only five minutes -- one-fourth as much time as the proponent's hired gun got. Example 3: At the end, the Florida developer's VP for Tree Cutting and Creek Filling got up to talk even more about how this unneeded shopping center would make America EVEN GREATER. (Which he, as a native and citizen of AMERICA, he emphasized, most fully appreciates.) So the Town Council gave the developers the first word, the longest word, and the last word. Nice. Example 4: To top it off, a Council member then chided the attorney for the neighborhood opponents for failing to "shut up" as soon as he was cut off. I kid you not. Apparently that's fairness, Cary style. You can watch the public hearing here, starting about 49 minutes into the Council meeting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bIk2WDXndbg And you can share you thoughts about shopping centers and fairness with Council members here: http://www.townofcary.org/Town_Council/Cary_Town_Council/councilmembers.htm

We already have more than enough commercial setting on this intersection. Why are WE THE PEOPLE allowing the planning board and the Mayor to rezone without our approval. May be its time the Mayor is thrown out and WE THE PEOPLE elect a government that works for THE PEOPLE.

No More Cary Shopping Centers

What is the point of Cary's having an ostensible "land use plan" if the Town Council doesn't follow it? I mean, seriously: why plan at all???

I am against this development as this will bring in more crowd and more chaos.

We do need another grocery store competing with Harris teeter. Either food lion or whole food.

No change to the land using plan. The forest is a buffer for our peace and safe life. No commercial! No commercial! No commercial!

The lack of planning is destroying western Cary. No to the Publix and this strip mall. We have enough big development. Is our town council not capable of standing up to development even when the citizens don't want it!!!

We don't need any grocery stores in the area. This would repeat the same mistake of WALGREENS right across from CVS!!!makes no sense. We need more unique stores , local coffee shops and breakfast/ brunch restaurants.

The traffic congestion and busy streets are already a safety issue for children/pedestrians. Please do not add to an already negative issue. We have two convenient shopping centers for our neighborhood/s. Another is not only unnecessary but would cause adverse impacts to our community.

We need to keep our children safe! We do NOT need another retail shopping center!

With Whole Foods coming in, the need for a Publix is not necessary and the traffic congestion is already bad on 55 and getting worse.
