Any of us who supported the underlying land-use change in January and are now unhappy with the final result have only ourselves to blame. Had we all stayed united in opposing the land-use change, the rezoning would not have been possible, and we would not be getting a big box shopping center connected to Arlington Park. We were warned about this very scenario, but some of us wouldn't listen. Now we'll all pay the price.

What I dont understand is why the land that was originally zoned for residential use is even being allowed to be rezoned to be used for commercial purpose. You can not expect the homeowners to foresee that suddenly one fine day someone will build a commerical complex next to their house and have a road running in front of their house! its ridiculous and Im actually in shock that the town who is supposed to protect the rights of its residents is allowing this

Another grocery store is redundant, there are 2 Harris Teeters and a Whole Foods being built within a 5 mile radius of Green Level and Carpenter Fire Station. For goodness sakes, use the land for something useful, like a park or soccer field. Or, just leave the trees alone. There's enough deforestation going on in this area.

You can see at the link below what the developer plans to do to those of us in Arlington Park. It's outrageous that Cary's Town Council would allow this next to established neighborhoods. Click on the Marketing Flier pdf: http://www.sembler.com/property/property-details.aspx?propertyid=146

I moved out here from Morrisville because it was relatively quiet and there were lots of trees and low traffic. I don't want West Cary to turn into another Morrisville. I *LOVE* that it's dark and night and there are actual stars and trees here. Keep zoning the way it is!

I AM AGAINST PUBLIX BEING BUILT AT CARPENTER FIRESTATION ROAD AND GREEN LEVEL CHURCH ROAD IN WESTERN CARY. WE DO NOT NEED ANOTHER SHOPPING CENTER SINCE WE HAVE ALL WE NEED ON NC 55. PLEASE RECONSIDER THIS CHANGE TO THE ZONING OF THE LEWTER LAND.

This is not a good project for the community. Out of town investor, means it isn't good for local business. There are already several shopping centers in the area, including one just across the road to the southeast. The developer's "promises" (no gas station, no 24hr business, etc.) cannot be guaranteed or enforced years in the future, when there will still be residents next door. The safety and environmental concerns also make it clear that this is is NOT a good development for Cary and its citizens.

I am opposed to the increased traffic and congestion this new development will bring.

No need for another shopping center, especially when it involves killing more of our beautiful NC trees. We all shop at the new center Cary Parkside.

We do not need another shopping center. We moved out here because it was quiet - please keep it that way!

There are many other beneficial uses for the property that preserves the existing buffers. No need to toss years of precedent away for a single development.

Pls stick with the original plan. People need to know before they purchase their home. We count on the town of Cary to keep their word!

NEIGHBORHOOD ALERT! Dear Neighbors of Arlington Park, Carolina Preserve, Amberly, and Cary Park: On the evening Monday, Jan. 25, Cary's Planning and Zoning Board will have a public hearing on 15-CPA-07, a Florida developer's unprecedented proposal to build a shopping center next to an existing single-family neighborhood, Amberly's Arlington Park -- something Cary has NEVER allowed anywhere else before. As the town's Principle Planner said at the project's Nov. 19 public hearing, "We’ve never done it the other way, where the housing was already in place and then we added commercial." Not once, anywhere. Under the law of Cary's Land Development Ordinance and our town's Comprehensive (Development) Plan, the developer can build a shopping center there ONLY IF the appointed P&Z Board and Cary's elected Town Council conclude that there's a shortage of shopping centers in the area. Believe it or not, that's exactly what the Florida developer and its paid local advocates are claiming, even though there are already *18* existing or planned shopping centers totaling millions of square feet of retail space less than four miles from the site in question -- including a big one right across one street, and another one that's mostly vacant just across the other street. It's ludicrous. Friends, 18 shopping centers within four miles a GLUT, not a shortage. So under the official Standards of Review in Cary's Land Development Ordinance, there's no sufficient legal justification to change Cary's longstanding development plan to allow a third shopping center at the intersection of Green Level Church Road and Carpenter Fire Station Road, where it would abut Arlington Park. We have too many shopping centers nearby already, and we don't need or want even more. Something else less harmful can go there, such as low-impact offices, or more single-family homes. Cary has NEVER allowed a new shopping center next to existing single-family homes before, and it shouldn't

We already have enough shopping within 5-10 miles of Cary Park and Amberley. Let's keep more of the space residentially or preferably green space.

The thing I always loved about this community was it didn't take long to get to a target or a mall and we were set back away from it all as a community. Why can't there just be neighborhoods with homes! We need schools not more business's. This kind of development makes me wants to leave. I really hope they listen to the concerns of us residents and listen instead of deciding to place something unwanted in our neighborhood.
