We, the undersigned Cary homeowners and residents, petition the Cary Planning and Zoning Board and the Cary Town Council to reject the rezoning sought in 15-REZ-16 (Lewter property) and the related proposed amendment of Cary’s Land Use Plan.

We object both to the proposed town Land Use Plan amendment and to the proposed rezoning because of our significant concerns about the development’s likely harmful impacts, including:

1. The 22-acre shopping center’s street connection to Arlington Park.

2. Serious child safety threats from busier street traffic, including cut-through trips.

3. Increased noise from shopping traffic and store deliveries, including at night.

4. Traffic congestion – an estimated 18,000 trips per day.

5. Light pollution at night, particularly for homes in lower-elevation Arlington Park.

6. Proper town enforcement of the required Jordan Lake buffer rule protections along the blue-line stream bisecting the property, as shown on the U.S.G.S. topo map for the Green Level, N.C. quadrangle (35078G8), and its wetlands.

7. Adherence to Cary’s Land Use Plan, which calls for commercial development on the east side of Green Level Church Road, and residential uses west of it.
