We the undersigned are interested in the discussion and implemtation of traffic calming measures in the Mirador neighborhood, specifically Westover and Bartram Roads.

Updates

January 9, 2019

I have been walking Westover and Bartram Roads every afternoon this week to document the speeding patterns I see firsthand. It is frightening to watch cars fly past our homes while children are out playing in their own driveways. I am currently compiling these observations to present during our next meeting with the city engineers.

January 9, 2019

Seeing this kind of movement in our neighborhood proves that I am not the only one terrified to let my kids play out front. It is clear that the people living on Westover and Bartram are ready for these streets to be safe again.

People need to drive slower. I am for traffic calming measures that do not include speed bumps. We need more children at play signs, maybe blinking speed light signs that people pay attention too.

Unfortunately, I don't think a stop sign will solve the problem. Blocking the street at Bennett thereby creating a cul-du-sac will. I dread coming home in the evening and have someone tail gate me and even try to go around me as I slow to pull into my driveway!

1. We need a stop sign at Bennett & Westover. That will stop cars whipping around the corner. 2. Speed signal needs to be in the middle of the block, not at the end by Deerpath. Michael Timpanaro

We live at the middle of Westover. It's not uncommon, especially if there are cars parked on the other side of the street, to have a vehicle pass by at 35+ mph within 5 feet of us as we get the mail, take out the trash, etc. The person above that mentioned the safety of children is spot on. There will be a day where a child goes on Westover to retrieve a ball and it ends badly. There is no way many of the speeders could react in time to stop. I also agree with having a stop sign (or speed bump) at the middle of Westover. It would be inconvenient for many of us, but the speeding needs to end.

We live on Mirador (third house in from Westover) and people regularly drive by going at least 40-45 mph.

A lot of people drive well over the speed limit in Mirador and Tanner Trails. Many live in culdesacs and never have to put up with speeding drivers. Respect your neighbors please.

I happen to live in a cul-de-sac but am still concerned. There is an abundance of children in this neighborhood and their safety is #1
