Make bringing back used needles mandatory in order to get a new clean needle. Or put a small “deposit” on the needle so there is incentive for addicts to collect them and bring them back for a refund.

I realize the value of providing clean needles to addicts for the sake of reducing the spread of disease, but enough is enough. Addicts seem to be running the show these days, not only putting others in harm by not properly disposing of their needles, but taking advantage of our hard working EMS staff when they could be responding to emergencies that aren’t self induced.

Finding used needles outside around the dental office I work at, at least once a week. I am very concerned with public sports fields and parks. It is sad that the whole population has to be effected by others poor decisions.

Freely giving out needles is saving one and killing another. There HAS to be a better way. If they need needles to do drugs they take the risks of disease the innocent citizens and children should NOT have to deal with the aftermath.

Full support by me! We find dirty needles everyday at my work (close to the consumption centre). I don’t want anyone to be hurt/exposed to infections by these littered needles.

Its disgusting to find so many needles just laying about. Our city has a real pandemic going on here. Instead of protecting the junkies in the city, let protect our children and the playground and parks they play in.

I am all for lowering the incidence of diseases which can be transmitted by sharing needles amongst intravenous drug users, just not at the expense of the children and people which do not use these drugs. Without any useful functioning plan to deal with the hundreds of needles now going out into the community, I seriously doubt the problem has been made any better. More like it's just been expanded further into the non-user community. The point of having a safe injection site should be exactly that; safe injections ONSITE. Why does the community at large have to worry even more, now that this facility has been opened?

The City, as well as Arches, need to do more to protect the innocent citizens of Lethbridge.
It is not safe to take your children or grandchildren to any park in the City.
The Safe Injection site may help addicts use illegal drugs in a safe environment but it puts everyone at risk.
Clean up the City!

I believe that rehab facilities should be promoted INSTEAD of handing out clean needles (which is encouraging and enabling drug use). Lethbridge needs to be cleaned up for the safety of its citizens.
