Needles should only be exchanged, not given out. It is a concern when walking in Lethbridge.

We are finding needles in our bushes and parking lot putting the public at risk. A better alternative needs to be provided to help those with substance abuse issues as opposed to enabling them. No easy answers.

Disagreed with this enabling program 10 years ago while working in human services. Still disagree but will never change because funding for services depends on politically correct decisions and this is somehow politically correct1

We have found so many needles in our alley, and with how many needles are being found I have to remind my kids daily to look out for needles at school, at the park, at soccer. We had to explain the danger of touching them. We won't allow our kids to be outside without shoes ever now just in case and that doesn't seem right. Our kids aren't using, they are innocent children and they have less choice and rights then the addicts do it seems. The people who are using get given an abundance of needles, with no restriction or rules and they are free to dispose of them wherever they feel because there is nothing to stop them. If there was atleast sharps containers then maybe some of them would be disposed of properly. Then we'd only have to instruct our kids to not be near the boxes as opposed to being scared they will step on a syringe and contract something from Simply playing or walking about. Something needs to be done about this crisis.

Being a former healthcare worker, this system you now have in place is only going to make the drug issues in Lethbridge worse

Needles should be handed out one at a time. Bring old one in, get new one.

Shame on those who are in charge. Shame on both our Provincial and Federal Governments. Shame on those who are not speaking out loud and clear about this ridiculous situation,

This is disgusting. I'm so tired of worrying if it's safe to even take my daughter to the park. Something has to be done!

All you are doing is enabling the drug problem instead of trying to find a way to alleviate it.

This is a disgrace to our city which is putting everyone but especially children at risk. How is it we can begin a program like this with no thought or concern on what the repercussions could be? A policy should have been in place to avoid these consequences from day one!

Harm reduction only works if it reduces harm for everyone. The current safe site and needle distribution program does not reduce harm to Lethbridge citizens. Dirty needles and increased crime near the site have resulted. Addicts live at risk and at some point they need to take some responsibility for that behavior. If they can’t or don’t want to stop then they should at least be responsible for safely disposing of their harmful drug paraphernalia.

I have been shocked with the number of needles found on Public Library property as well as with the number of uses carrying needles around in the library, and children's section!

The city is not beautiful anymore As a tax paying home owner there are 2 very important issues must be dealt with Lower property and business taxes and most importantly deal with public safety issue What is happening to the downtown core ? There is crime at every corner of the city and now Needles everywhere I mean everywhere Where is the mayor ?? Step up Mr. Mayor and do something about this Quit giving us excuses that you are doing your best No your not You will understand it a bit more when you start stepping on needles in your own back yard like we are Grow a set. Our parks are not safe for our children anymore Close down the 750 000.00 that you took out of my tax money for the golf tournament in Paradise Canyon Take this money and allocate it to the Police Department now !! Make our city safe again or step aside

The safety of 0.3% of our population does not trump the safety of the rest of society. We need to stop encouraging this behaviour and stand up to the vocal minority.
