Needle Exchange Program

The needle crisis is out of control and has to be stopped, I come across multiple needles every single day.

Expecting the needles to remain onsite seems a reasonable expectation in exchange for clean and safe accomodations. Expecting the public to deal with this fallout is unreasonable. I hope this facility is able to change to make everyone safer and continue to operate. It is a huge benefit.

There is no easy solution but I am alarmed that our children are put at risk by the discarded paraphenalia

We need to keep our Parks and the entire City safe for everyone, including dogs and cats. What the City is doing is not working!

Is it really worth it to give needles out to go off site into an area where children play? Any kids hurt by this is the responsibilty of the city council and ARCHES!

This just makes sense.

Free needles do not help the drug crises, It is only enabling the addicts. The "safe site" needs to have mandatory counselling and drug therapy services. No needles allowed off the site.

Our once beautiful city is now becoming a s--t hole of drug users, drug dealers, and drug crime. The mayor and Arches say there is "nothing they can do". Really? Are they that stupid to not realize that giving addicts free needles (to take off site) is a significant part of the problem? Is it going to take someone (especially a kid), to contract Hepatitis or HIV from a discarded needle before our leaders get their heads out of their asses and stop the madness?

I’m sad that I can’t enjoy walking my dog as much as I used to around town, because I am constantly being paranoid about needles on the ground.

I cant believe i need to sign this petition. The city just wasted 2.7 million dollars on a bike boulevard that start on a random street that leads to nowhere. Quit wasting our tax dollars on wasteful things when there are so many other things which require a lot more attention. Especially when it comes to needles in playgrounds. Wtf city of lethbridge.

We moved here 9 yrs ago, and are actively looking to move to another Alberta location. Lethbridge was once a nice city, but has become the Alberta city of choice for drug addicts and street people. The city is rife with drug related crime, and the drain on medical services due to drug overdoses is affecting normal response times. Law abiding citizens are feeling increasingly unsafe, and with the influx of addicts, it will only get worse.

The City needs to be accountable to implement some rules! Are you waiting for a child to be injured of dead first?

it's hard to enjoy our beautiful parks while having to be on the lookout for drug paraphernalia. Maybe the S I S should be out there cleaning up our parks.

I've seen these on my property on several occasions. Makes you feel very cautious! Knowing how many people walk around in flip flops and sandals at this time of year it is concerning.

I am not opposed to safe needles being given out but do think there needs to be a process so we don't end up with them around the city. I realize there isn't one easy answer but would like to see steps being taken to help Lethbridge stay safe as my kids grow. Thank you!

Appalled by what is happening-have recent bad experience.Those in office should smarten up.

Lethbridge was the greatest city in Alberta to live. Now I will no longer go to a Henderson lake your vehicle windows will be smashed out in broad daylight. I no longer take my children to playgrounds. I have found needle and drug debris in areas it never was before. I’m nervous to leave my work which is located by the drug clinic, we were not informed by the city of its location prior to its opening. After 17 years here I’m looking at options to move my family out.

Clean this city up

Sad state of affairs in our society. Drugs are destroying us. Who do we save? Burocrats are putting our society at risk pandering to these druggies. Bad call, and our politicians must stop this and protect all of the public young and old!!

The city needs to be made safe for our children and grandchildren.
