Working downtown i have seen needles on the ground almost daily. Have nearly stepped on a few in our work parking lot a few times as well.
Everyday leaving work i get to watch addicts yelling at each other, selling drugs to each other, hanging around parking lots, trying to break into my vehicle and others.. which creates a general feeling of unease for most people walking to their vehicles to drive home.
I believe these people truly need help but creating a PUBLIC LIABILITY by handing out free syringes is definately not the answer. If they want to shoot up, shouldn't it be up to them to acquire the proper equipment and do it at home. Shame on whoever thought this was acceptable to sacrifice the safety of Public and children etc. to help junkies to "keep it clean"
From everyday observations i have also found that the general population of users has certainly either increased or migrating to downtown areas more specifically now the Public Library etc. which is supposed to be a family oriented building.

It is not the community’s responsibility to pick up after these people!!! We shouldn’t have to explained to our children about needles because someone wants a fix it’s a awful thing to have to explain to a young child. Don’t you think that desensitizes the situation and makes the children curious. It’s scary it is a huge issue. They need to keep the needles in the site and should not leave the site. If detox is a problem get funding for a detox centre not a safe injection sight how is that not enabling the problem. By releasing all these needles to anyone it’s showing out in the community and makes it unsafe.

Do we REALLY have an "opoid crises" in Lethbridge? Or, do we REALLY have a bunch of drug addicts sitting around high-fiving each other and laughing their asses off because they've managed to get a bunch of idiot politicians to fund their drug habits while the hard working, law abiding taxpayer has difficulty putting food on the table and paying their utility bills and now has to worry about the safety of their children!

Ny farther is a needle type drug user. He has HIV/HEP C and many other ailments. His dementia makes it so he leaves things everywhere with no regard for anyone else. He is homeless on the Lethbridge streets. I cannot stop him, someone needs to protect the innocent.

definalty support the , no needles should get distributed from the site. i support the site but they should not be giving needles out. and the fact the drug users are going to clean up debris is fucking stupid.

I have seen this epidemic grow and grow, I hope to see it get better in the near future so I don't have to check every place I take my niece to play outside for needle debris. She as a 5 year old girl shouldn't have to be taught not to go near a needle. She shouldn't even see it In the first place.

I think the needle exchange idea is an excellent idea to implement.

I don’t think the needles should even be allowed out of the building supplying them. I thought the safe sites were supposed to be set up incase of overdose, not to give out needles like candy
