Safe injection sites are a farce and a travesty of government. They spit in the face of and endanger the common good and pander to a minority that would be better served with treatment and rehabilitation. I grew up in this community and I am sickened to see prostitutes and drug addicts patrolling our streets on a regular basis. SHUT THIS FACILITY DOWN!

These poor lost souls! We need to show love and support which helps them out of their addictions instead of enabling them. Bringing back the old needles is a small start at helping them learn responsibility. Let's help them begin to have some hope and self respect. There are many successful charitable organizations with great success rates in helping these precious souls. The key is to truly love them. That means helping them out of the addictions rut they are in. Not enabling, perpectuating and affirming them in their dysunction.

Why not have the site and use it for counselling and not handing out needles.
Diane Hall (see previous comments on here) says it well.

I would prefer them using the needles inside the “safe” facility, but not letting them take them outside of the facility.

We are not encouraging responsibility when we don’t ask them to return their used needles. Start and exchange program as a sign of our care for them and others.

Exchange old for new seems reasonable, they will figure it out if they want the new needle.. and keep them off the school grounds or park

If they are gonna do these save injection sites they should make them use IN the building and stay until they are able to normally function. Also how about spending some money on more detox/rehab facilities instead of enabling!

What is wrong with people, these are criminals, breaking the law. No one ever asked me if my tax dollars could be spent enabling addicts. If we need to spend money on addicts then spend the money trying to help them get straight. Further more it’s now spreading out on to the streets of Lethbridge, causing businesses to close and our children to be endangered and hurt. This centre needs to be closed. And all councillors to be held responsible during the next election.

Agreed... far to little "supervision" is evident in this program. I was quite pleased to hear that this initiative was being established, but the outcome is understandably laughable given the latitude allowed for users. get your act togather or shut the program down.

I am a resident of Lethbridge and use to work downtown near the YMCA . The amount of needles on the ground in that area by the track is outrageous and some sort of action needs to be taken. This is a good cause
