I want to point out that in the past year and a half I have driven to North Country Comm college probably 20 times in hopes to take my daughter swimming on days we were looking for things to get us out of the house only to find it closed. I never knew what the outcome would be....seemed to always be closed. It's closed for basketball events, winter breaks, staffing issues, I stopped bringing my 4 year old daughter with me to check because it made her so sad to always find it was closed for one reason or another. I looked through the spring calendar I would love to take her after work, but anyone with a job can't take advantage of the pool because of its hours. It's unfortunate because if it was open at times we could access it I would probably buy a membership instead of a punch card that I've had forever because everytime we go it's closed. I can honestly say I've shown up 20 times in the last year and a half to find it closed. That's two punch cards of income missed in the last year and a half, and I'm sure I'm not alone.

I can back up the inaccurate usage counts. NCCC has no clue how many people use the pool because they have work/study students covering signings and zI have never seen them question anybody, and I see people I know in the pool who are not signed in. It also does appear that there is actually no interest in aquatics in the current athletic system. My perception is that the pool is a bother and a distraction. Additionally one should look at repair and maintenance costs compared to where else NCCC spends money.

Our family has used the college pool for years. We have used it for enjoyment, exercise and rehab. It has been a vital part of our lives and the lives of many other water loving people. Lessons, exercise, rehab - all of these activities are a must for the safety and health of residents of Saranac Lake and surrounding communities.

We moved here from a YMCA that had active pool hours for lap swimming, rehab classes, swim classes of varying levels, elder water aerobics, open family swim time, etc. The pool was in constant use.
Hire a program director and the pool will be used.

NCCC is a valued part of SL; community support of NCCC shouldn't be undervalued. Having facilities - high on the list, the pool - is a sign of NCCC's recognition that staying relevant to the community strengthens its value to its supporters.

The pool is a wonderful resource for the community and without it swimmers of all kinds will not have a place to go. The lack of usage is due to the inconsistent hours.

I've been using the NCCC pool several times a week for about a year now. I missed it very much when it closed for the holidays. My stamina, strength and overall feeling of wellness have improved since I started swimming regularly.

The pool is a great asset to the community. Unfortunately the times aren’t always conducive to work and family lives and the closures for reasons other than pool maintenance (such as for events) also hamper community use. Facilities surrounding the pool need to be updated also. But the pool should not be lost to the community.

The pool is in Saranac LAKE is surrounded by hundreds of bodies of water. Children should have a place to learn how to be safe and enjoy the water
