Our educators do an amazing job on 1/3 of the salary they deserve! State-regulated mandatory testing increases the pressure of both teachers and students to cover required material in limited timing. Let’s do all we can to help them!

It seems like a no-brainer to complete a semester and the testing that goes with it BEFORE leaving for Winter Break. It's how colleges and universities operate. It's what's best for students. It makes sense.

Give counties the flexibility they need to test before the holidays. Using tourism as an excuse shows the states priorities are out of line.

It makes so much more sense for high school exams to be before Christmas break. Students can’t even enjoy the holidays.

1. Students come back from Christmas break clueless and it takes awhile to recharge their brains for exams.
2. Community College and high school courses overlapping with the dual enrollment program. More students would graduate early in January and begin college early.

I can’t believe we don’t test before going on break. This is ridiculous. This isn’t what is best for students or teachers.

Exams after being out for two weeks leads to lower scores which makes the school rank poorer. When everyone is looking for schools to show growth but intentionally putting the students and teachers in a bind, you are NOT looking for growth.

Twice now exams have been moved...students will be taking exams that are make or break for some and definitely for the teachers after not having consistent, uninterrupted, instruction for over a month.

The school calendar should not be dictated by the tourism committee. The calendar should reflect what is in the best interest of students and teachers.

It was this way for me when. I was in school, basically the semester was just like a college semester. Worked great, because as a student you were able to actually enjoy your break, and didn't forget material over break, resulting in major stress upon return. I hope to see this changed for my children.

I have had this conversation multiple times since the current school calendar was adopted- changing back to a calendar in which the break between semesters fell over the holiday break has multiple benefits including increased student achievement and increased opportunities for advanced training for early grads two name two. Shouldn’t decisions in education be based on what is best for our students?

If school systems are going to allow students to participate in community college classes, the calendars need to align better. College started on the 8th but first semester classes are still going on at the high school. He just alternates which class he misses which doesn’t prepare him for exams and starts him behind in his college class. Lose lose for him and others.
