It only makes sense to have exams before the holidays.

Exams before Christmas break makes so much more sense! Start school 1 or 2 weeks earlier in August and end school around Memorial Day.

Doing what is best for our students should be our primary concern! Our calendar should support student success!

Local control is needed for calendar decisions. I teach high school in NC and our current calendar is just not what is best for our kids and their learning.

Since our high schools have gone to the semester like colleges, we should have the flexibility to start school earlier in August so that students can be done with the semester before the winter break and have their exams before leaving for the holidays. This would also help with the transient students who often times move at the beginning of the calendar year.

I believe we should take exams before holiday break. As a junior in high school, I know very well that going on break clears my mind. I'd rather take my exams after a hardworking semester and then go on break. This weather after the break also conflicts with teachers reviewing material.

Please! Kids lose precious knowledge and adrenaline over a two week Christmas break AND January weather most always prevents testing to be completed. It's a no brainer.

The schedule used to allow this. Testing went more smoothly and there was a much more straight forward transition from semester to semester.

Testing before Holiday Break is common sense. Please allow NC schools more calendar flexibility to do what is necessary for the good of our students.

Please do what’s right for Kids and teachers! This happens EVERY year, religiously, and hurts kids’ chances of being successful and teachers’ ability to adequately close out one course and prepare to begin another. Both issues are detrimentally to student achievement.

Kids need to take test while it's fresh on their minds instead of having 10 days to loaf off and not study.
Please make exams before break!
We need calendar flexibility.
