Purchased car two weeks ago for $800 that needed some big $$ repairs. Only considered the sale as my husband is a mechanic and would save on the labour costs, but it being a cadillac the parts cost are higher. Went to transfer ownership and was given the shock of a $402 hst on purchase.

Yup I agree and I've had enough of this BS, I bought a parts truck for $200 that was completely undrivable, but previous owner insisted it be taken out of his name so when I went to DVM they charged me another $380 on top of that because of that stupid red book price, they have no problem stealing our hard earned money that's for sure, it's time we stand up

This is something that will be an issue for anyone looking to purchase their first vehicle and it seems unfair in terms of the outlandish assessments.

This isn't right. Just another way for our government to make more money of us tax paying citizens. Another tax after tax.

Terrible to pay so much tax on something that has already been taxed mutiple times. I also had to pay over 800$ tax on a car i paid 1000$ for .it did not even have a working transmition an much else was wrong, bought as a project car Shame on New brunswick charging so much to people who already struggle so much financially

I do not know much about law that gives the province the ability to tax or to what level they are allowed to set a sales tax or if they are allowed to tax on money that wasn't spent but I would love to talk to someone who knows more. To look at the possibility of a class action against the province. I feel that this is illegal. A revolution started over tea tax Id like to think a court case could happen over this abuse. If anyone knows anyone I could speak with about this please share that person's information with me at [email protected] thank you. Daniel Anderson

I am going through this with my second even trade where no money has changed hands and taxes were paid on original vehicle on original purchase and each resale. This is legislated extortion. The true definition of organized crime. Magna Carta people.

I don't know why the law even changed, you should pay the tax on the price you paid for the car. We live in a place where a car is rotten from salt after one year. buying a ten year old rust bucket then being charged more in tax than you paid is crooked.

We pay enough to the goverment to keep our cars on the road evey year. We should not have to pay more than we did for the car to transfer it over, COMPLETELY unfair for us.
