Very unfair practice the Government have introduced to used car purchases. It's criminal. If I get a good deal why should I be peanilized for it? If Walmart has a half price sale on, they don't charge me tax on the original price. That's just stupid and discriminatory. Grow up NB Government!!!

It's even worse that they won't tell you the red book value before you purchase. It's just a big old unwanted surprise.

My son had to pay tax on the NB Gov't price not on actually what he paid. He had to pay tax on an extra $2000. He was the third owner of this vehicle. So tax had been paid 3 times for the same item. In Alberta there is no GST on private sale vehicles... This pisses me off.

It's outrageous and unfair .. I am a single mother looking for a vehicle right now because I'm having a boy in a month and need a way to get my children around ... but I can afford to pay say around 500 to 1500 just in taxes because the government may think that it's worth way more than it actually is .

This needs to be changed asap. Government ripping every body off forcing to pay a certain price when the cars nowhere near worth it. Pay more in taxes than what I paid sometimes it's rediculous.
