I agree. Used vehicles often need hundreds of dollars in repairs just to pass inspection. Then they are taxed as if that work did not need to be done.

this is an unfair policy that only lines the government's pockets as they get to make the rules. even homes have a better system than autos do

Tax was paid when it was bought new, this is robbery. I can see a small transfer fee but this is insane!!

We also brought a car for 1300 and they want 750 to change it over to my name . So now the car sits in the yard as we can't afford to change it over . So we wasted 1300 on something we can't drive . This is ridiculous. Very mad .

I have encountered this. Sold a vehicle for 1500, went with the purchaser to transfer and tax was based on 4500 per their book. WTH

I think it's just ridiculas the tax has already been payed on car at purchase and the tax that we pay is already coming out of every $ made and spent

Government making a fortune off NB'ers backs on vechile tax. If a vechile is sold 10 times in it's life span. NB Giv. Tax it every time. So there is no way they should be taxing on what ever they and there in perfect condition book says. Tax what we pay. Not inflate it. And maybe review and do a max 4 time tax on any vechile. And if you want to save money. Do as other provinces. Change law to one rear plate only. Think of what that would save Gov. And tax payers. But then again. No common sense in Gov.

This is just another example of government greed and needs stopped. Taxes should only be paid when the vehicle is first purchased new and that is the only time. This country and province is doomed if we soon don't elect a government that starts to work for the people, rather than the people working for those elected greedy people running this province and country as a hole. As a taxpayer of this province I for one am tired of supporting these crooks !!!!!

New Brunswick government are stealing from tax payers, it's been like this for years because people allow it to happen. Alberta and others don't deal with the problems in NB.

I agree that there should be no taxes on a used vehicle. Taxes were paid when the vehicle was sold as new.
