I totally agree, it should go back to the way it was. Not all of us can afford to pay the taxes on the red book price if we could we would be buying new vehicle's not second hand. We choose second hand as it's what we can afford.

Tax on the actual value of vehicle, not what blue book says. That book consider vehicle is in immaculate condition. The government does not have time to do a visual inspection. Let this one go!!

having vehicles annually inspected and high registration costs are ludicrous too.....most other provinces don't have these high mandatory vehicle costs....

Gouging.....plain and simple. With the example, it's over a weeks pay.

I once paid $800 for a 2005 Mazda 3 and it was $400 for the tax... me only being a teenager, working three jobs just to support myself was completely blown away.

This is another way to get more rip off money from the working people who are trying to get by in this province...Liberal government should be ashamed of how they are taxing the people here

Bought a 500 dollar rolling shell, got taxed on 7000 dollar value. Documented the work done along with a mile high pile of receipts for parts along with countless quotes and ended being reimbursed some money several months later. Still ended up paying taxes on 3000$
