I bought a car this year for 3300.00 had to pay tax of 5800.00. This is robbery.

I think this is ridiculous. I've Been forced to overpay a few times.

Taxes where paid in full when vehicle was purchased new! TAXES after this is our government being PIRATES this BS has to stop....

Also went through this in the summer. Paid almost 30% of purchase price for a used vehicle based on blue book value. Needed a couple of things and I was going to appeal it. That process I'd foolish because if you identify things requiring repair, I was told you'd be harassed for a new mvi. Also rediculous to pay hst on a used vehicle in the first place that has already had taxes paid on it by the original purchaser. Also, since we're at it, anyone notice that licences went to 4 year renewal from 5?

Should only be paying taxes on the vehicle when it is sold new off the lot!!

Such a scam, we pay enough tax !!! Just about the highest in the country is believe. Tax is paid in full when NEW !!!

The people most affected with this are the ones that basically cannot afford new cars. Its a total scam from the Liberal government to tax the low income people even more...

This happened to me. It's completely unfair to the people of New Brunswick. The taxes should only be paid ice when the car is first purchased new. Not every time it changes hands. They are trying to squeeze water out of a rock.

I thought that you used to be able to get someone to assess the real value of your car.

Highway robery obviously, I would also like to have the name of the professionel idiot that approved the change in size of the registrations to the 8.5 x 11 inch...Even the dmv employees are looking for him!

Very unfair. Even if its undriveable and is worth almost nothing but the registration has to be changed to your name when you purchase you will pay up to twice as much or more just because they say so. Should accept appraisals. They cannot decide what a vehicle is worth from behind a desk and never even seeing it. And yes bad enough they make money and want tax on it everytime it changes owners. Now charge up to 50% more than what a vehicke is worth on top of that is beyond unacceptable. I can see someone offering registrations and stickers like they do for safety inspections and just take their chances and skip the government instead. Force the poor guy trying to get a inexpensive vehicle on the road into underground avenues. Appraisals should be what is used. Not jane behind a desk guessing or what putting all cars the same as the same condition. Rediculous and beyond unfair. Who is trying to rip off who?

People should NOT be paying tax on a price they didn'5 pay for the actual car, thats bullsh*t.

A vehicle should only be able to be taxed once when it drives off the lot
