NB Taxpayers demand to be taxed on vehicle purchase price, not government speculation

Should adopt the Alberta way, sales tax is done on a new vehicle , boat ,atv, etc then if sold Privately , no sales tax !NB gouging!

Ridiculous to pay tax on anything other than what was paid at time of purchase.

I agree that we should be taxed on what we pay, not what they believe we should. Do we pay tax this way on anything else we purchase......NO.

Cars are sold on average 4 times since new and Ned /should be taxed accordingly or on graduated down rate. The currrnt system is just another money grab for gov. Province taxed to death now!

This is an unfair tax. We shouldn't even have to pay taxes on a used car at all.

I've had to deal with this as well, but I think we need to go a step further and end 2nd hand sales tax on cars, period. There is nothing else out there that you pay tax on the resale of the item.

It's absolutely ridiculous to pay taxes on more money than you spent. I Bought a car for 1700$ paid taxes in 5000$ it's bad enough to have such ridiculously high taxes on everything but now to pay tax on money you didn't spend because you couldn't afford to is absolutely mind bogglingly greedy of the government. The fact that we pay taxes on secondhand cars is already a gouge! The government got their taxes when the car was sold the first time!

i know a few people this tax has caused the loss of jobs witch meens there kids go without and they walk everywhere, so somone can line their pocket or for them to make up for reckless spending of tax money..either way it is very very very very very very WRONG

This is ridiculous. In order to win an appeal, you have to pay full tax at SNB, ask for the papers to appeal, complete ALL repairs to the vehicle, and have all pictures and receipts submitted to Fredericton within 2 weeks of your original visit. AND YOU MIGHT NOT WIN YOUR APPEAL!!!! We should be fighting to register the vehicle once and keep your plate, like they do in Alberta.

Does the government even realize just how many taxes have been already paid on a auto mobile. It's crazy, you should only have to pay taxes the once! So now they're doing this to us .... sad really!

Been through this and it is just not right.

Bad enough we are paying tax on used goods ( an item that was already taxed when sold new) but this new practice is just crazy
