From its origins in midcentury Italy to the American mainstream today, the spritz has finally broken through as one of the top 10 cocktails in the world. The spritz is highly customizable but is always low in alcohol and high on flavor. The best are gently bittersweet and bubbly with a hint of citrus, customarily mixed with a light aperitif, dry sparkling wine, seltzer, and topped off with an orange slice garnish.
