a permanent rink is badly needed. we have so many talented athletes involved in the various ice sports but without suitable facilities how can they develop to their full potential. we have the coaches and the athletes, we just need a full size permanent rink. a national ice arena would encourage an uptake in sport and co-operation between a number of governing bodies for ice sports. the arena could also facilitate schools for an interesting PE programme which in turn could encourage children to take up an ice sport as an extra curricular activity.

Winter sports by definition help lift the gloom of what is frankly a terrible weather and sunlight place in the winter. Anything we can provide kids that is exercise, skill development and gets away from screens and messing is positive. Is there a Northern Hemisphere country without a rink?
