I am glad to see this petition again. It was around a few years ago -asking for transparency on many topics and accountability within NARST. This petition received no action- FYI. The leadership needs to be reminded that transparency on all fronts is important - not just elections. There needs to be clear information about processes, discussions (points and counterpoints), board decisions (why can't we recall board members based on how they represent the membership?) and long term goals. It's all opaque, Wizard of Oz like.

I am a former NARST member although I used to be a Strand Coordinator - inclusion, transparency, equity, and the free exchange of ideas would make NARST an organization I might want to join again.

This seems like a very reasonable request. I'm surprised we would even need a petition to have this information made available. However, if a petition is what it takes then I will add my name to the list.

Dr. Rodriguez's request is absolutely reasonable within what I assumed was a democratic voting process within a professional organization.

It seems completely reasonable that all members would be able to see these data, if interested.

Yes, please announce the results to all candidates. I've never thought to have the results made available to the membership. This would seem to be a reasonable practice for any professional organization.

Transparency, inclusion, ethics, and equity are all issues that have been on the table for a while at NARST, I believe, and that need to be taken serious. This would be a small step in that direction wiht many more to come.

Transparency is definitely something we need to work on for improving this organization. For example, from my own experience, I found that certain people always got good time periods for their presentations even though they had 3 or 4 sections going on in one year. How these decisions were made in terms of assigning someone in popular time spots vs. others in unpopular ones? We are all accepted. Why do we have such differences and why do these differences remain each year?

It sounds as though this needs to be addressed in the organization. It seems, given the comments, that we need a way to get people to vote for desired policy changes. Perhaps having all voting issues ready during actual NARST meetings, so that we can ask members to vote at that time? I support the availability of this information, at least by request. I am interested in the views of my colleagues.
