The NAPS trustees have confirmed the pension proposal is officially withdrawn and Rule 27 requirements are no longer necessary. We successfully achieved our objective through this collective action. A BA pilot who started at 21, intend to fly at least 39 years for BA in total . Career pilot, career airline, career pension. I'll give my all to BA, but need a much improved retirement offer.
The BA proposal is unacceptable in its current form. Current gilt yields, actuarial assumptions and accounting bias have skewed the the obligations which BA are cynically manipulating to their advantage. Please review this significant impact on all NAPS colleagues.
We have all made long term life changing decisions based on the pension we signed up to on joining the company. British Airways signed those contracts just as we did. BA needs to honour the obligations it undertook when we signed our contracts.
Be Fair BA? Change of pensions is one thing - total and utter destruction is another. Im staring down the barrel of circa £900k reduction - a purely opportunistic money grab.
I've been paying into the scheme for almost 15 years. Under the current proposal, my "final" pay would be that of a co-pilot, whereas I (like almost every copilot) expect to retire as a captain on significantly higher pensionable pay.

Closing NAPS to future accrual is one thing, changing already accrued benefits to Salary at March 2018 instead of final salary something completely different and is unacceptable.
