Name the new AHS hostel "The George McGhee Halls of Residence"
With construction of the new Anderson High School set to begin, this petition calls on the project team to name the "new Janet Courtney" hostel the "George McGhee Halls of Residence", in honour of someone who has been a friend, mentor and hugely influential figure in the lives of decades of young people from rural Shetland.
(George - we know you'll hate this idea, but please, take a compliment :-) )

He was always firm but fair and knew where the line was. I had to see him "in the office" on more than one occassion!! Yes, a legend. Well deserved.
I couldn't think of a greater honour for a more deserving man. I lived in the hostel for 5 years and Mr McGhee has always been like a father figure to anyone that spent any length of time there. I really really hope that this happens.
Never stayed in the hostel but whenever I spoke to him he was a great guy, went to the hostel for lunch often and he always spoke to everyone, well deserved title if this passes!
Definately, that man has cared for so many children like his own and he never forgets any of them, he even meets up with them when theycare away at university which they all love, a special man x
Mr McGhee was the best! Always looked after us and made us smile :) Plus can't remember the number of times he had to take me to A&E haha.
Although I did not stay at the Halls my Brother did and speaks with great fondness of the House parents I think it would be very fitting to call it The George Mcgee Hostel
Hoping the SIC take heed of what has been extremely clear public opinion on this, and the overwhelming results of their own consultation!

George made the Janet Cortney Hostellika second home.Both John and Nicola were very happy there. George deserves this recognition .
