Although I no longer live in Swartz, I grew up there. As a gg grandaughter of John W. Cagle, who came to this area of Ouachita Parish with Mr. Edward G. Swartz,in the late 1800's from Chidester, Arkansas and who was one of his machinist at the Swartz Lumber Co., I am very glad for the opportunity to sign this petition. I agree with everything it says and more.
About 15 years ago, I became very interested in researching the man for whom Swartz was named and .spent several years (albeit sporadically) in researching and gathering information on Mr. Edward G. Swartz, the person. Along the way, I procured information from people as far away as Florida and Tennessee. Knowing the history of this gentleman it makes perfect sense to me, and many others, that the new Jr. High would proudly bare his name. Forever, a Swartz Gator,, Kathy Cagle Baker

It would be very cool to have the Blue and Gold Swartz Jr. High Gators back again. I was in 7th grade the last year it was open. They closed it down and bussed all of us halfway across town Ouachita Parish Jr High. I loved Swartz and I didn't care about school after that. I'll always be a proud Swartz Gator. Bring it back!

Actually Debbie , the colors is the MINOR thing of all 3 things !!! ... The suggested "name" of it is Northeast La. Middle School , Colors to be BLACK & GOLD , and the Mascot called THE CHIEFS !!! ........WE, the people of Swartz , is willing to meet 2/3 of the way in this & do the colors grey/red BUT we dont want any other changes !!! ........Im praying for at least 2 of the 3 to stay as it should be !!!! .......Thank you so much for your input !!! ......

Taught at SJH from Jan 73 to May 82. Would LOVE for the new school to be either Swartz Middle or Swartz Jr. It would be nice to regain the school in the community. BTW, the colors were blue and gold while I was there. Ck the yrbks.

My sister was in one of the last classes at Swartz Junior High and her spirit uniform is definitely blue and gold. When I coached the Swartz Elementary YMCA cheer squad for three years I had so many people telling me the colors were Green and Yellow. I attended Swartz from 1990 until I moved to the Junior High and Blue has always been a main color.
