The school board just made it official and the gymnasium will bear Coach Dabney's name. We achieved this victory because our community refused to let his legacy fade. Keep an eye on the upcoming dedication ceremony announcement so we can properly celebrate this together.

Archie Dabney was a coach, mentor, teacher, and Guidance Counselor for the Citrus County School system for over forty years. He spent his entire career teaching his students (he called his kids) and his coworkers what it meant to be a person of integrity and value. He positively impacted thousands of lives and has left a legacy of LOVE for everyone, regardless of race.

Coach Dabney is the reason I went to college. He is the one who pushed me to start filling out applications and applying for scholarships and grants. He made a huge impact at CRHS for many, many students, not just athletes!
When we moved to CR in 1979 Coach Dabney made the transition smooth for my brother and I. We came from a very small private school in KY to CR! I was scared to death! It didn’t matter what I needed he was there to help. He deserves this honor!
I might not be here if it weren’t for Coach Dabney. I was considering ending my life because of childhood trauma. Coach knew I was hurting and loved me through it. He was just THERE for you. No matter what we needed. Thank you Coach.
Most of the time I spent with coach from age 12 through 18 was in that gym. The lessons learned there are a major part of his legacy. In my mind that has always been his gym. Putting his name on it is the right thing to do.
Coach was the reason that I didn't drop out of school. He was such a mentor to every student. He truly cared about every student. Always made hisself available anytime so ine had a problem. He was and always will be Crystal River High School
