It takes me 20mins to get to Nairn from work, then another 20 mins to get through Nairn. It's a joke.

I find it galling that areas to the South east of Glasgow with roads leading to the likes of Troon(A78) and Scotland's quietest airport Prestwick (A77) all somehow seem to qualify for dual carriageways, but not the link from Inverness to Aberdeen which are actually two busier airports. That's what Glasgowcentric government gets you I suppose.

Anytime I go through Nairn between 4pm and 6pm the traffic is horrendous. The highlands always seem to be the last to dual carriageway major roads and by passing towns. Public services are that bad people are reliant on there own transport.

Describing these traffic lights as dysfunctional and uncoordinated is probably being too complimentary.
I cannot comprehend how Transport Scotland can inexplicably claim that the most important improvement was to repaint the turn right lanes at Lochloy road which were never a problem - I can travel 300 miles to the North East of England and go through less sets of lights than travelling 2 miles across Nairn.

It is absolutely disgraceful that people have to queue for hours to get through the town. Thank god I'm not stuck in it with a screaming kid, or somebody desperate for the toilet or running out of petrol or trying to get to an appointment or any other possible scenario.
Living in Nairn, I'm at least familiar with the alternative routes available to me due to the position of my house. However, many people have no option and are stuck in the gridlock for hours. What is holding up the bypass exactly?? And in the meantime, why don't we have proper diversions from say, the Gollanfield crossroads.
