Myrtle Taylor Evans and her father, Roosevelt Murray were brutally murdered in Louisa, KY in May 1986. They were loved by so many people and did not deserve to die at the hands of two brothers, Donald and Montie Gussle from Louisa, KY. The two brothers robbed them before they murdered them. Days later they were discovered by the family of Myrtle and Roosevelt. Montie Gussler will serve the rest of his life in prison; however, Donald is up for parole in May of this year. The hearing will be held in Frankfurt, KY. To help prevent the releasing of this criminal, this petition will be presented to the parole board. The family of the victims request your signature, so that Donald Gussler will never receive the chance to harm another individual. Myrtle was originally from the Delbarton, WV area and Roosevelt lived in Louisa most of his life. Please help us to prevent the chance of Donald Gussler's release by signing this petition. Thank you for your support!

The weight of this fight is heavy and some days it feels like we are barely keeping our heads above water. We are nearing five hundred signatures and I need you to push this forward so the parole board cannot look away from the truth of what happened to my family.

Roosevelt Murray was a friend of my parents when he lived in Indiana before moving back to Louisa, Ky. I remember him as a very kind man & was saddened when these horrible brothers did this to him & his daughter. They should never be free again to walk among decent people. Don’t let them go free to kill again.

He should not be released. I knew this couple personally and this was a horrific act. Both should spend the rest of their lives in prison.

My family knew them well. Such good people taken for no reason. parole is a slap in the face to their memory. NO PAROLE.

Just wrong. He should never see the light of day again.

Keep Donald Gussler in prison where he belongs. He took two innocent lives and destroyed a whole family. He needs to stay locked up for good.

I grew up hearing about this in Louisa and it still breaks my heart. Monsters like this belong behind bars forever. Keep him locked up.

Kelli, I dont know how to begin to apologize for your loss. I couldnt imagine how that must be. Donald and Montie are my uncles. Although I will never defend their actions, I will say that both families have suffered a loss. Im not sure what relation Roosevelt and Myrtle are to you, but my grandmother lost her sons when they were locked up. My aunts and uncles and my mother lost their brothers. They can still write and visit, but its not the same, you know? Theyve spent more than half of their lives locked up. They were kids when this happened and now theyre men in their middle ages. Theyve grown and learned and are completely different people from what they were back then. I urge you to reconsider your petition and give them another chance at life. I know how hard it can be to forgive someone. Im not sure if I could do it myself. But Id like to think that I would have the strength to listen to what they had to say and to really consider what theyve been through. Im by no means defending them or their actions. I know that nothing I can say can take away from your pain. But I just want you to know that our family has felt a great amount of pain as well. And I would be forever grateful if you would take our pain into consideration. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I appreciate it more than I could say.
