DPP back log is harming the building industry. My company get 5 projects had been waiting over 10 months for building permits. DPP should privatize the permitting process to outside agencies, such as third party review.

Mayor Blangiardi, voting for you, I continue to believe that you would be the one to get things done. We are counting on you to help Honolulu get back to being a prosperous city and having the DPP get their approval schedule to move much quicker will be a huge solution.

The process for permits has not improved in the last few years. We need explanations, or at the very least accountability. People's homes and jobs depend on this. Thank you!

Ridiculously slow process to get a building permit. Lack of progress to move forward with the lengthy time frame of building permits. Like anything else, when processing any advancement, by the time it’s enacting it’s close to being outdated or obsolete. It’s imperative to move any process in a timely manner to allow any and all advancement to move forward. Fast tracking building permits or any other processes is for the betterment of progress.

Please address the process and accountability. The period to get a permit approved is unacceptable. It's affecting struggling families. I hope DPP hears the people's cries and sees the urgency of the need for a better process. Action is needed.

Mayor Blangiardi, we have a broken system with too many regulations in place. Please remove the vast waste of permits which are crippling housing developments and allow for a robust build of homes.

The comments I have been getting for building permits has been so inconsistent. The level of detail that the building department has been commenting on is beyond the minimum requirements for a building permit. Then there are many unfair requirements such as a topography requirement with no exceptions.

We are currently waiting for 4 permits One of which has taken two years and counting, others have been 6+ months and counting. Something has to change.
Privatize the building department, and make it for profit, and use the tax revenue From that private business. I’ve been a building contractor for 32 years in Hawaii, and this is the worst it’s ever been

We need to work smarter, not harder on getting permits through. Reasonable time is fair, some of these projects are really unreasonable. We need to ask, not demand for a better process that helps everyone. Win-win is the goal.

Working in the industry I see people really struggle with their renovations. It can take over a year, and delays their project & inflation isn’t helping anyone. Make hawaii affordable and permits faster for all.
