I am a student heavily involved in music. I participate in choir and accapella here at Villanova. Honestly, the only hesitation I had about accepting a spot at Villanova was the fact that there was no music program to enrich my passion. Being that Villanova is an Augustinian institution with no music education was surprising to me. It is St. Augustine, after all, who said "he who sings prays twice." Creating a music minor would draw in many more students with creative backgrounds and perspectives. I hope this petition is taken seriously.

2019. I would have loved to continue playing the clarinet, but with no academic incentive, other commitments caused me to ultimately give up playing music. Offering courses/a minor/credit for ensemble performance would only enhance the Villanova experience. I would have definitely taken advantage of that if it was in existence when I started here.

I think having such a program could do a lot for the students of Villanova! Many friends of mine in all the colleges have expressed interest in musical disciplines and education, and having the option, even as a minor, would be incredible.

Grad student in engineering but before coming to Villanova I actually got a degree in music from my undergrad institution. I was surprised to see Villanova offered the summer music studies but not anything for undergrad students during the school year. With a school of this size I don’t think numbers or interest would be a problem. If there's any ways I can help let me know! I’d love to stay in the loop.

As a member of various activities within the office of Music Activities, I know MANY people who would be interested in pursuing music as an academic discipline. I think this program would not only be popular among current students, but would encourage even more musically inclined students to consider Villanova.

I'm a member of the Villanova Singers and the Villanova Spires. Music is the only thing I do outside of school work. Music has determined my friends and my direction in life to a great extent. I've always been disappointed that Villanova doesn't have much in the direction of music and arts studies. As a mechanical engineering major, I would absolutely love the opportunity to do more in academia in regards to music studies. Please strongly consider starting a program of this type, I am certain it would have great interest and passion behind it.
