Over generations mullet have been netted in large quantities around the uk. It happens hear in the Isle of Man much the same, but of late us anglers have just had enough! There has been recent catches on the Isle of man that has raised the attention of all local anglers and angered us all. The worst thing, is that these people who do this don't give the fish any respect, they take as many as they can, with large quantities going to waste due to the lack of market. They don't take into any consideration of the age and slow growing of the fish and how they could be severely damaging the future stocks of these! The Manx Government has been hounded with letters and emails on this subject, but i think a petition with people against these actions would make them really open their eyes to the amount of people who are angered by this. Have you encountered large masses of mullet being netted? Do you beleive it is wrong what commercial fisherman are doing? Do you beleive the fish needs more protection from these actions?
