We are students at Muhlenberg College who believe that the genocide in Darfur must stop now! This represents the first time the Congress, President, and State Department have called an ongoing conflict a genocide.
55 Colleges and Universities have already divested their money (stock, endowment etc...) from the worst offending \"genocide sponsoring\" companies doing business in Sudan.
We believe that Muhlenberg should join the call for targetted divestment of Sudan.
The administration remains silent regarding our request for divestment from companies linked to the conflict in Sudan. Behind the scenes I am preparing a formal brief to present to the board of trustees during their next meeting.
September 2, 2007
The momentum behind this initiative has grown significantly and indicates a clear consensus among our community regarding divestment. We have reached a meaningful threshold that highlights the urgency of our cause. This level of engagement confirms that our message is resonating with a broad audience.
