His Eminence, Joseph William Cardinal Tobin C.Ss.R:

We, the undersigned are reaching out to you to express our thoughts on your upcoming appointment of the fifth Pastor for the Parish Community of St. Helen.

While we are joyful and grateful that Bishop -Elect Saporito’s talents will be put to good use in our Archdiocese, we are grieving the loss of our devoted pastor for whom we have such deep fondness and admiration. Yet, as we came to know Bishop-Elect Saporito we realized it was a matter of time before he would be called to serve the greater Church community. We congratulate Pope Francis and your Eminence in recognizing his talents were needed to grow the Church at-large.

In light of his most laudable pastoral skills we are, therefore, concerned about whether our next Pastor will be able to continue the growth of our Parish. Based on the forthcoming reasons, we are respectfully and prayerfully asking that Rev. Msgr. Thomas. P. Nydegger, your Parochial Vicar and Moderator of the Curia, be appointed the fifth Pastor of the Parish Community of St. Helen.

Msgr. Nydegger has served as a Weekend Assistant during most of Bishop-Elect Saporito’s tenure at St. Helen’s. More importantly he has become an integral part of the St. Helen’s family. In addition to presiding at Sunday Masses, he has taken the time to get to know the parish staff and parishioners as well as become involved in our celebrations and knowledgeable about our community outreach and evangelization efforts. Moreover, he has become a confident pillar of support and trusted confessor for many in the community. His personal familiarity with our parishioners and parish staff would allow for our parish to continue its evangelization mission seamlessly as well as grow from his spiritual insights.

Thank you for taking the time to prayerfully consider our request. We look forward to your announcements and your blessing of our new Church on Saturday, June 6, 2020. We thank you for your consideration of this matter and your faithful service to our Archdiocese. Please be assured we are keeping you in our prayers.

Wishing you God’s continued blessings. Respectfully yours in Christ

The level of traction this petition has gained demonstrates a clear consensus regarding our parish leadership needs. I am currently preparing a formal letter to Cardinal Tobin to ensure this document is presented alongside our primary request. Expect an update once lines of communication with the Archdiocese are fully established.

As a parishioner of St. Helen since 1983, my family and I have witnessed the growth of our church with the past 4 Pastors and we need our 5th one to continue on the same path. We know that Rev. Msgr. Thomas. P. Nydegger will follow the footsteps of Bishop -Elect Saporito.

With the new church in the midst of completion, and all of the planning necessary to have a seamless transition to our new facility, continuity is what we need. Msgr. Tom is in the right place at the right time to fill this need.

Monsignor Nydegger would be a blessing to the Parish Community of Sarin Helen. As long as he would be open to the calling, the Grace of the Holy Spirit will be ever present to assist Monsignor Nydegger grow the discipleship’s that Bishop Elect has ignited in the rebirth of our Parish. May the Holy Spirit gives you the guidance to assign the right priest to our Parish to honor what Bishop Saporito has built and expanded in here. Peace
