Support Mr. Ogata: SMC\'s Director of Int\'l Programs

In late March, Mr. Darryl-Keith Ogata, Director of International Programs at Santa Monica College, expressed his intent to resign from his position and become a full-time instructor. We can\'t let that happen! He is the ONLY one with the experience and skills to resolve our unique issues - be they with immigration, or with instructors, etc. When international students encounter serious problems, Mr. Ogata is always the one to whom we are eventually referred - when no one else can help! He handles ALL the difficult problems and really cares for us, even leaving his cell phone number on his voice mail system so we can reach him in an emergency. In addition, Mr. Ogata is in charge of SMC\'s intensive ESL program, helping a number of students from all over the world prepare for higher education in the U.S and realize their American dream. Mr. Ogata also organizes SMC\'s study abroad programs. Thanks to Mr. Ogata, SMC has become an institution of higher education with one of the highest international populations in America. All of us at SMC, as well as in the community, have enjoyed the diversity that international students bring here. SMC\'s International Education Department can NOT afford to lose him. Should he resign, there is no one to help all 2,800 international students with our most complex, and severe problems. Please support this petition to keep him as an administrator - WE NEED HIM! *This petition will be submitted to Santa Monica College\'s Senior Administrators, including Dr. Chui Tsang (President) and Ms. Teresita Rodriguez (Vice President of Enrollment Development). *Although it is free to sign this you will be asked to donate to the website after you hit \"sign petition\"...just cancel/close - your signature will already have been recorded.
