My name is Leonard Love. I am a Federal inmate who is a first time offender, mentor and creator of social programs that are beneficial to inmates and At-risk teens.
The united States makes up 5% of the worlds population yet makes up over 25% of the worlds total prison population. We have over 5000 jail and prisons which cost tax payers over 65 billion a year. With President Obama pushing for change in America, "Now" is the time we all follow suit. The criminal justice system is interested in the rehabilitation of offenders and ,as such has developed a myriad of programs and adopted legislation to effectuate that directive. Recently with the inception of the "Second Change Act" improvements to protocols in correction, treatment programs and community support systems have been refined and modified to ensure that a "Continuum of Care" exists in order to safeguard our communities and to combat recidivism.
Therefore I'm taking this this unique opportunity to request your input and signatures for this Petition. A Petition for implementing the return of parole to the federal prison system. A Petition for the abolishment of mandatory minimums for first time offenders and no violent criminals. A Petition for more reentry/apprenticeship skilled trade programs in all state and federal prisons. The time is "Now" to fix the unjust and broken prison system of America.

Sincerely,
Leonard Love
I spend my days behind these walls reading your messages and thinking of the future I hope we can build together. My work with the mentorship programs here reminds me daily that people are capable of real transformation if given the chance. We must keep pushing for these reforms because too many lives are currently being wasted in this cycle.

Seeing this level of backing for a system that keeps me and so many others feeling forgotten is overwhelming. This momentum proves that people outside these walls are finally ready to demand a path back to our families and our futures.

Too many people just rotting away in jail for non violent crimes. It costs too much money and does zero to help anyone. Bring back parole.
