MRC Student Coalition Demands

I demand you racist little brats get expelled. If you don't like white people go live in a country where there is no white people. This is not South Africa and you will not change this country to South Africa.

These kinds of people are LIARS, FRAUDS, HYPOCRITES and BULLIES. Over here in the UK, I was a "mature" student at uni. Most of these "these types" of students (stereotyping and I DON'T CARE!) are ageist. They would not dare to be sexist or racist, but they are happy to be ageist. I remember a campaign leaflet for a girl (condescending I know!) who wanted to be the elected leader of the mature students association. Her argument was something like this: hey, I'm 21, so technically I'm a "mature" student, but hey, I'm only 21 so I'm still young, cool and "acceptable"! As a mid 30s person who has worked in the REAL FECKIN WORLD, I was actually quite offended by this! I don't see many older faces in the MRC. Are they ageist? I seem to remember that at Uni I was surrounded by young trendies who spent 4 years pretending that they had never seen me before! There are so many exclusive cliques at uni these days. These trendies are just a bunch of elitists like any other bunch of elitists. They could have learned so much from me with my mere extra 14 years.... but noooo, they'd rather chew their own arm off than benefit from an older person's experience. It looks like there is some kind of Chinese style cultural revolution stirring across America. They will be purging the "old" folks soon. It fills me with satisfaction that the ravages of time will have its wicked way with them too! America, you are in sooo much trouble!

You're absolutely right that MRC is (should be) educating students in a globally-minded way, which is one of their demands - a non-Eurocentric curriculum. SU is an expensive school, and don't you think that they should be held accountable for the quality of their education? The students involved in the occupation are challenging SU to live up to its mission of empowering leaders for a just and humane world. No one chooses whether or not to be born into privilege, but we can choose to learn about privilege, oppression, and our place in the world, and implementing the students' demands would create a positive legacy for incoming students for years to come.

Although I have limited experience with MRC, I believe in the importance of these demands and this movement. Now is the time for all students and histories to be accurately represented and the material to be studied in the appropriate context. It is important to listen to the voices of the students! Especially people of color, women, and the LGBTQ+ community. We always have the choice not to be perpetrators of oppression and marginalization.

Don't cave in, Dean Kelly. Just expel the little pricks. Time to give SJWs a dose of reality.

Although I have limited first-hand experience with the Mateo Ricci College I have heard many stories and I believe in the importance of the demands of this student movement. Now is the time to analyze and reevaluate the priorities of MRC so that all students and histories are accurately represented and material is studied in the appropriate context. Listen to the voices of the students! Especially people of color, womxn, and the LGBTQ+ community. Make the choice not to be perpetrators of oppression and marginalization. Education can be a wonderful and meaningful weapon for liberation, but only when wielded deliberately.

I truly believe that MRC's structural racism and Euro-centric curriculum harms me as a White student and as a member of this community. I, furthermore, believe that in order for the change to occur that must, that Dean Kelly must resign or be removed from her position as Dean.

LOL.. Why not just go to class and do your best? You should not be going to an echo chamber where everyone agrees with you.

It is essential that future educators come prepared with skills to break through the racist educational system. I fully support the demands these students have laid out in this petition. It would be beneficial not only to them and the school, but to the community as a whole.

I am not in MRC, so I am making all my assumptions based off of social media and my friends' experiences. But I am appalled that any educator of any level would set the comfort and safety of their students at such a low priority. Keep fighting, MRC Coellition, without you us bodies of color will be overlooked for centuries to come. Sending my energy from out of state this weekend. See you guys when I get back.
